Make your own online advent calendar
A free online advent calendar for someone you love: 24 little doors with a note, a photo, a song, a video or a hint to the real present. One opens every day until Christmas, and you see how they react.
How it works
- 1
Pick the dates and a look
Classic advent, a countdown to New Year, or your own range — say, the last 7 days before you meet.
- 2
Fill the doors
Write a few lines, add a photo, paste a Spotify, YouTube or TikTok link. Start from 24 ready ideas if you like.
- 3
Send one link
They open today's door, the rest stay shut until their day — even if they change the clock on their phone.
The whole calendar in one short video
Who is it for?
Every calendar starts with 24 doors already written for that person. Keep the ones you like, rewrite the rest.
Your partner
The songs that are yours, a photo from a day you keep going back to, a breakfast-in-bed coupon. And one door that is simply a date: Saturday, 7 pm, a table for two at the place you keep walking past. On the last day — where the real present is hidden.
- 2 SurpriseThe song that was playing when I realised I was in trouble (the good kind).
- 7 CouponOne breakfast in bed, valid this weekend.
- 14 BookingSaturday, 7 pm — a table for two at the place we keep walking past. Dress up a little.
- 23 Gift hintYour gift is hidden somewhere warm. Start with the closet.
Long distance
Different cities, same December. Set the calendar to their time zone so doors open at their midnight, not yours, and fill it with playlists, voice notes and plans for the next visit.
- 10 SurpriseA playlist I made for you — songs that sound like us.
- 15 TaskPlan our next trip with me tonight. Anywhere — budget comes later.
- 18 SurpriseA letter I would never say out loud. Read it when you are alone.
- 20 SurpriseOur song. You know which one.
Kids
A small task every day instead of a chocolate: a paper snowflake, a letter to Santa, a blanket fort. The last door says where Santa left a note.
- 1 TaskWrite a letter to Santa and draw your favourite toy on it.
- 3 TaskMake a paper snowflake and tape it to the window.
- 7 TaskBake gingerbread cookies with us and decorate one for a neighbour.
- 23 Gift hintSanta left a note under the tree. Go and look!
Parents & grandparents
A photo of you at five, the recipe you finally learned, a call that is overdue. Send the link to their phone — the doors are big and the text is large. Expecting? Hide the news behind the last door: it is the gentlest way to tell your parents about a pregnancy, and they get to open it themselves.
- 2 SurpriseA photo from when I was small and you were the age I am now.
- 3 TaskCall me tonight. I want to hear how your day went — the whole thing.
- 8 CouponI come round and fix the thing you have been asking me to fix.
- 21 SurpriseA short video message from me. Press play.
A friend
Inside jokes, the song from your first trip, a coffee coupon and one date you finally put in the calendar. Works across countries — it's just a link.
- 3 SurpriseA photo you would definitely not want anyone else to see.
- 7 CouponCoffee on me, wherever you want.
- 10 TaskPlan our next meet-up. Pick a date right now.
- 14 CouponI help you move, paint or carry something heavy. One time only.
A class or study group
One calendar for the whole class: drop the link in the group chat and every morning there is a task for everyone — bring a snack to share, write a card to the teacher, swap a favourite book. Works for teachers, class reps, student unions and dorm floors.
- 3 TaskBring one snack to share at break.
- 5 TaskWrite a short thank-you note to a teacher and leave it on their desk.
- 15 TaskSign a holiday card for the school staff — cleaners, cooks, the caretaker.
- 20 TaskSecret mission: do one kind thing for someone and tell nobody.
Colleagues & teams
An advent calendar for employees from HR or the team lead: a quiz on Monday, a coffee on the company, a thank-you to someone from another department, the date of the holiday party. One link in Slack or Teams, nothing to install — a warm December for a remote IT team or the whole office.
- 2 TaskThank someone from another department who helped you this year.
- 3 CouponCoffee is on the company today. Show this door at the café downstairs.
- 6 TaskCamera on, festive hat on. Today's stand-up is a costume party.
- 13 BookingThe holiday party: Friday, 7 pm. Keep the evening free — details in the team chat.
Three styles to choose from
Same doors, three moods. You can switch any time — even after you've sent it.
Why this one
Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for
Two links and that's it. No account, no email, no app for either of you.
Music and video inside the door
Paste a link from Spotify, YouTube, TikTok, Apple Music, SoundCloud or Vimeo — it plays right there.
No peeking
What's behind a closed door never reaches their phone. The date is counted on our side, not theirs.
A nudge every morning
One tap and our Telegram bot tells them when a new door opens.
They answer, you see it
Under each opened door they tap a heart, a laugh or a tear, or write you a line back. It shows up on your calendar page — and in Telegram, if you connect our bot.
Late? Still works
Started on December 5? Missed doors are simply open, and the rest go on day by day.
Questions
What to put in an advent calendar?
Mix the doors so it stays interesting: notes and memories, small tasks, coupons like breakfast in bed, a gift card with its code, a booking for a date night, songs and videos — and on the last door, a hint to where the real Christmas present is hidden. Our guide has ideas for a partner, kids, parents, friends, a class and a team.
How do I make an online advent calendar?
Type who it is for, pick the dates (December 1–24, until New Year, or your own), choose a style and start from ready ideas or a blank one. Fill the doors and send one link. It is a digital advent calendar, so there is nothing to buy, wrap or ship.
Is it really free?
Yes. Text, photos, links, all three looks, reminders and reactions are free, no account needed.
Can they open tomorrow's door early?
No. Closed doors are locked on our server by the date in your time zone, so changing the clock on their phone does nothing.
Can I change doors after sending the link?
Yes. Keep your secret edit link — you can edit any door, add photos or switch the look at any time.
Can I edit it from another device?
Yes. Keep the secret edit link, or connect the calendar to Telegram: the bot's button opens it for editing on any phone or laptop. Names, sign-off, dates and the number of doors can all be changed after you send the link.
What can go behind a door?
A message, a task, a hint to the real present, a coupon, a gift card with its code, or a booking — a table, tickets, a trip. Plus a photo and a link. Links from Spotify, YouTube, TikTok, Apple Music, SoundCloud and Vimeo turn into a player right in the door; any other link becomes a button.
What if I start late?
No problem. Doors whose day has already passed are open from the first visit, the rest open one a day.
How do reminders work?
On the calendar there is a button to get reminders in Telegram. Our bot then sends one message a morning when a new door opens. You can switch them off any time in the bot’s ⚙️ Manage.
Can I announce a pregnancy with an advent calendar?
Yes, and it is one of the sweetest ways to do it. Fill the doors with small hints — a tiny sock, the date of a scan, a lullaby — and put the news itself behind the last door. Your parents open it on their own phone on the day you choose, and you see their reaction right in the calendar.
Can I make one for a group swap?
Group calendars, where several people fill the doors for one person, are coming next. For now one person fills the calendar.
Doing a gift exchange too?
Draw names for Secret Santa in a minute — the same no-signup way.
